Free Embroidery Machine 101
Explore commercial-grade embroidery in our makerspace in this two-hour hands-on demonstration.
You’ll learn how to use our Melco Summit machine and get a first look at the Melco Fusion software for creating and preparing your own designs.
After this session, members will be certified to use the Melco Summit on their own.
You will learn:
* How to set up and operate the Melco Summit safely, start a job, monitor progress
* Basics of the Melco Fusion software — how to use it to layout, digitize, or prepare designs for embroidery
* Key features of the Summit — e.g. the 10.1″ touchscreen, automatic thread tensioning (Acti-Feed™), laser alignment, multi-needle operation (16 needles)
* Which kinds of materials and fabrics can be embroidered (and which are supported in our on-site materials stock)
* How to choose hoop sizes, frame your design, and position it correctly
*Where to find further learning resources (tutorials, community files, manuals)
This is a guided demonstration — we’ll run a sample embroidery job together so you can observe the workflow and understand each step.
Schedule & Language:
* Held every other Wednesday, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
* Sessions alternately in English (EN) or German (DE), as indicated in the title
The other language is always accommodated, but:
- Participants with limited German are encouraged to attend English sessions
- Participants with limited English are encouraged to join German sessions
For non-members:
Non-members are welcome to join this introduction and see what commercial embroidery can do.
To use the machine and develop your own projects, becoming a member is required. Afterward, you’ll also have access to further workshops and creative support.
