Design and build your own rotating bookshelf

A compact and elegant storage piece that spins smoothly on a rotating base.
In this intermediate SkillLab, you’ll learn how to cut the main components on the CNC machine, how to design shelves that fit precisely, and how to choose between glued joinery or fully dismantlable construction.

This session is theory-based with live demonstration. We’ll cut a set of sample parts together to understand the workflow. After the session, you’ll receive the cutting files and full instructions to make your own rotating bookshelf at the makerspace on your own schedule.

What you’ll learn:
* How a rotating bookshelf is structured (base, spindle, shelves, reinforcement)
* How to prepare CNC-ready files for multi-part furniture
* How to design press-fit joints, glue joints, and eccentric joints
* How to integrate a lazy-susan bearing for smooth rotation
* Material choices available on site and how thickness influences joinery
* Safety basics and good practices for cutting furniture parts on the CNC
